Awami League activists will remain on streets all over the country to face the blockade programme called by the BNP and its allies, communication minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday night.
He said that the workers and leaders of the paty and its associate organisations will make their presense on streets peaceful.
The Awami League has formed 16 teams to resist BNP’s blockade programme in the capital. Each team, comprising central leaders of the party, will take position at the city’s important points, said a press release on Monday.
In a statement, Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif urged all concerned to resist the blockade programme by ensuring their presence in their respective spots.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday announced an indefinite countrywide blockade protesting the government’s restriction in its rally.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) urged the BNP-led 20 party alliance to withdraw the non-stop countrywide blockade it announced on Monday.
In a press release, FBCCI also urged the political parties to resolve the ongoing political crisis through dialogue.
Having failed to come out of her office to join her alliance’s planned rally in the city, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia said a countrywide blockade will continue until they come up with a fresh decision.
She made the announcement while talking to reporters on her Gulshan office premises in the afternoon.
The FBCCI said the blockade should be withdrawn as a business and investment-friendly environment has been prevailing in the country at present. News Desk
