A 15-member poll-time interim government is going to be form at 3 PM
on today headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to oversee a free,
fair and credible upcoming parliamentary poll for transition to next
elected government.
The cabinet division sources confirmed this last evening. For forming
the new cabinet, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday evening met
President Md Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban and decided to form the new
all-party interim cabinet.
Sources said that there will be five new faces in the interim
government who will be drawn from the rulling Awami League and its
alliance including Jatiya Party (Ershad) and workers party. Of them,
Amir Hossain Amu, Rashed Khan Menon from workers party, Anisul Islam
Mahmud from Jatiya Party are likely to be includided in the new
cabinet.
President Md Abdul Hamid will administer oath of his office to the new
faces at a simple ceremony at Bangabhaban in the afternoon on Monday.
The Prime Minister on Sunday evening and handed over resignation
letters of her cabinet ministers, which they had submitted earlier on
Monday (November 11). But, it was not known how many resignation
letters of the resigning ministers have been accepted by the
president.
The ruling AL-led alliance government was formed in early January 2009

UNB adds: Several new ministers will take oath on Monday afternoon at
Bangabhaban as part of the process to form an all-party polls-time
government, said Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met President Abdul Hamid in the evening
and apprised the President that an all-party polls-time government
would be formed to oversee the next general election, the size of
which would be smaller than the existing Cabinet.
“The Prime Minister apprised the President about that plan as well as
the probable activities of that Cabinet,” he said adding that the
President also welcomed the initiative of the Prime Minister wishing
its overall success. The Cabinet Secretary said the premier also
apprised Abdul Hamid about the overall situation of the country
alongside the present government’s activities.
Replying to a question, he said the resignation letters of those
ministers, who submitted their letters to the Prime Minister
expressing their intention to resign, are with the Prime Minister and
she was also scrutinising those letters. The Awami League–led grand
alliance is moving ahead with its plan to form an all-party government
amid the BNP-led 18-party alliance’s demand for a non-party caretaker
government to oversee the next general election. The 10th national
