Alleged robber leader lynched

A suspected ringleader of an inter-district robber gang was killed in a mob attack at Namila village in Kapasia upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shamim, 42, son of Gias Uddin, a resident of Panchahar village in Gaforgoan upazila of Mymensingh district.
Quoting locals, police said a gang of 12/15 armed robbers stormed into three houses of the village around 2am.The gang looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables from the houses.
Later, local people surrounded the robbers while they were trying to flee the scene.
After a hot chase, they caught Shamim, while others of the gang, managed to flee with the booty.
The villagers beat Shamim mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police went to the village and recovered the body.
Ahsan Ullah, officer-in-charge of Kapasia Police Station, confirmed the incident.
Shamim was accused in 15 cases including murder and robbery cases filed with different police stations, including Kapasia, Gaforgoan, Sripur, Monohordi and Pakundia Police Stations, added the OC. – UNB
