Allged criminal killed in ‘gunfight’ with DB police

An alleged criminal was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with law enforces at AGB Colony in Motijheel area of the city early Monday. The deceased could not be identified immediately.
A special team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) reportedly challenged a gang of criminals in the area around 4:30am.Sensing the presence of police, the criminals opened fire at them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate by firing, triggering a gunfight, leaving one injured.
The injured was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Police also recovered one pistol, two bullets and two crude bombs from the spot.
Firoj, sub-inspector of Motijheel Police Station confirmed the incident.                                                                                                                                        Subsequently different sources said that the dead man was Imrul Kayes, Commissioner of No. 1 ward of Narail Municipality, and a leader of Jamaat of the locality.
