Aman among 89 BNP workers indicted for torching vehicles

A court here on Thursday indicted 89 BNP leaders and activists, including its joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, in two cases filed for vandalising and torching vehicles.
Passing the order, judge Nazmul Haque Shyamal of the Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal fixed January 5 next to begin the trial formally with the deposition of witnesses.A total of 67 BNP leaders and activists, including Aman, its international affairs secretary Nazim Uddin Alam, former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal president Sultan Salauddin Tuku and its Dhaka district unit president Rezaul Karim Paul, appeared before the court on Thursday.
The court also issued warrants for the arrest of rest of the accused as they did not turn up.
Sub-inspector Abdul Haque Shikdar of Savar Model Police Station filed a case on charge of vandalising and torching vehicles at Aminbazar on December 9.
Police submitted charge-sheet against 65 people, including Aman and Nazim, before the court on December 25 of that year in the case.
One Abdul Jalil filed the other case with the police station on charge of damaging and torching vehicles in front of Tetuljhara College at Aminbazar on the day.
Police pressed charges against 24 BNP men, including Aman and former MP Dewan Salauddin Babu, on December 23 of the year. – UNB
