Anamul eager to do well in BPL

Dhaka – Bangladesh cricketer Anamaul Haque Bijoy wants to play well in the upcoming edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) which is scheduled to be played from December 11.

Anamul has long been out of the national set-up. The 26-year-old batsman last played for the national side in July last, but failed to impress with the bat and cement his place.

In the upcoming BPL, which is rebranded as Bangabandhu BPL to pay tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking his birth centenary, Anamul will feature for Jamuna Bank Dhaka Platoon. He will get Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Tamim Iqbal as his teammates.

“I played in Mashrafe bhai’s team twice in the BPL and won the title as well. I played for Comilla Victorians in the last season with Tamim bhai. They’re real champions. It’ll be a great honour for me to play with them in this year’s BPL,” he said told the media on Sunday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

In the last BPL, Anamul played 14 matches and scored 200 runs at an average of 14.28. But this time, he is eager to do well. He said: “I always try to do well for my team. Sometimes I do well and sometimes I fail. I started my career playing well in the BPL. So, it’s always important for me to do well in this event. I hope a good show in the BPL will help me to book a place in the national team again.”

A total of seven teams will participate in the BPL. Apart from Dhaka Platoon, the other teams are- Chattogram Challengers, Cumilla Warriors, Rangpur Rangers, Rajshahi Royals, Khulna Tigers and Sylhet Thunder.UNB
