Sonali Bank Limited authorities on Tuesday filed another fresh case against Hall-Mark Chairman Jasmin and Managing Director (MD) Tanvir Mahmud for loan default.
Executive Officer of Ruposhi Bangla Branch of Sonali Bank Md Abdus Salam filed the latest case with Dhaka’s First Money Loan Court-1 (Artho Rin Adalat-1) on behalf of Sonali Bank Limited.
Artho Rin Adalat -1 Judge Md Rabiuzzaman took cognizance of the case and directed the prosecution to issue summons and fixed April 16 for return of the summons.The plaintiff says that Boby Fashions Limited MD Tanvir Mahmud and Chairman Jesmin Islam received goods work Tk 30,40,66,999 without paying any money to the bank. Later, Sonali Bank authorities paid the amount, but as Hall-Mark company failed to pay the loan after several requests, the bank filed the present case to recover their paid loan amount.
Besides this case, till March 30, Sonali Bank authorities filed a total of 11 cases against Hall-Mark group for the recovery of Tk 62cr default loan.
Earlier, on October 4, 2012, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed 11 cases against the Hall-Mark owners as well as its higher employees and some Sonali Bank officials in connection with the much-talked loan scam of Tk 3,500 crore.
Tanvir is now behind bars while Jasmine is on bail. – Court Correspondent
