Dhaka – ‘Apparel Tech Up’, an industry showcase for the apparel industry, was held at the Radisson Blu – Bay View hotel in Chittagong on Sunday.Hosted by ThreadSol, it was the first edition of Apparel Tech Up for the Chittagong apparel industry. Previously it has been staged in Dhaka, besides Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam and Indonesia.The event was aimed at discussing different technology interventions for the apparel industry, with the primary focus on Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Mobility.Speakers discussed the changes that are taking place in the textile value chain and the factors impacting it. They focused on the disruptive technology that was causing these changes and the changing landscape of retailers and consumers of fashion products, the inevitable rise of e-commerce and the plausible impact on manufacturers.The event concluded with an interactive panel discussion on the topic – “Manufacturing Excellence – People, Products and Processes”.Over 60 high management representatives from 32 manufacturing groups participated while the speakers for the event were eminent technology and consultancy providers – Fast React, GSD, ThreadSol and Gherzi.UNB news agency
