Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an alleged arms trader in possession of a foreign-made pistol from Bolfield area here on Friday night.
The arrestee was identified as Nasir Uddin,24, son of Amjad Hossain, a resident of Putkhali village under Benapole port thana.
Jessore Rab-6 company commander Niaz Mohammad Foisal said on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area at about 11:00 pm.
Later, Rab men arrested Nasir while his other associates managed to flee the scene.
The elite force recovered a foreign-made 9MM pistol from his possession.
The arrestee was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station on Saturday morning.
