Army Archers shine in 2nd Int’l Archery Tournament

Dhaka – Tofazzal Hossain of Bangladesh Army reached the Recurve Men’s Singles final of the ongoing 2nd International Archery Tournament in Kyrgyzstan on Thursday. He defeated Serikbay Begmbetov of Kazakhstan by 7-1 set points in the semi-final.Tofazzal will play Kursanaliev Ulukbek of Kyrgyzstan in the final on Friday.

In the Mixed Team event, Bangladesh Army team reached the final beating Tajikistan by 5-4 set points.Bangladesh Army team comprises Tofazzal Hossain and Nasrin Aktar will play hosts Kyrgyzstan in the final on Friday.

In Recurve Men’s team event, Bangladesh Army Archery team conceded 2-6 points defeat to UAE in the semifinal. Army team comprises Tofazzal Hossain, Mohammad Redwan and Abdullah Al Mamun will play hosts Kyrgyzstan in the third-place decider on Friday.

In day’s other matches, Mohammad Redwan conceded a 2-6 set points defeat to Abdullah Taha of Kuwait and Abdullah Al Mamun suffered a 5-6 set points defeat to Serikbay Begmbetov of Kazakhstan in the pre-quarter final matches of Recurve Men’s Singles.

In Recurve Women’s singles, Nasrin Aktar conceded a 4-6 set points defeat to Firoza Juvaydova of Tajikistan in the in the pre-quarter match.

Earlier, a  six-member Bangladesh Army Archery team including four archers and two officials, left Dhaka on Monday to take part in the 2nd International Archery Tournament being held in Kyrgyzstan on September 3-6.UNB
