Corporal Tajerul Islam Taj, 35, was found unconscious under Khilkhet flyover on Thursday night, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman told journalists.
He was taken to Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where he died late at night.
56 EB Regiment Corporal Taj was stationed in Comilla Cantonment. He was on a transit was at the army’s Transit Camp in Khilkhet in the capital.
Police said a man had called the cantonment and informed that Taj was lying beside the road. The deceased went outside the camp on Thursday evening.
Hospital documents say he had been sedated.
Masudur Rahman said Cantonment Police sent his body to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue on Friday morning for autopsy.
Sumon, brother of the deceased, has filed an unnatural death case at the Khilkhet Police Station over the murder.
Sumon said they hail from Nababganj in Dinajpur. Their father’s name is Shahed Ali.
