Army, Sylhet register win in men’s football

DHAKA – Bangladesh Army and Sylhet district football team won their respective group A matches of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games men’s football event held today at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.

In the day’s first match, Bangladesh Army, came from behind and dumped Khulna district team by 6-1 goals.

In the day’s match, Emon and Shahin struck twice each in the 22nd, 69tgh and 40th and 77th minutes respectively while Tareq and Afzal netted one goal apiece in the 42nd and 90+3rd minutes respectively for Army.

Nazmul scored the lone goal for Khulna in the 9th minute of the match.

In the day’s second match, Sylhet district football team beat Netrokona district football team by 3-1 goals.

In the day’s proceeding, Zillur scored a brace in the 70th and 73rd minutes after Sujon opened an account scoring the first goal for Sylhet in the 6th minute of the match.

Rajib netted the lone goal for Netrokona in the 51st minute of the match.

A total of ten teams, eight district teams along with BKSP and Bangladesh Army, are taking part in the meet, jointly organized by Bangladesh Football Federation and Bangladesh Olympic Association.

Men’s football teams (grouping):

Group A – Netrokona district, Bangladesh Army, Sylhet District, Pabna district and Khulna district.

Group B – Rangpur district, Cumilla district, Cox’s Bazar district, Satkhira district and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan.BSS
