Arrest warrant against six witnesses witness in women repression case

The Women and Children Repression and Prevention Tribunal-5 of Dhaka on Sunday issued warrant of arrest for the six witnesses including complainant, journalist Khandaker Mozammel Haque and Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty in the case filed against cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan Nitto for torturing their domestic help.Magistrate Snigdha Rani is a Magistrate of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka, who had recorded the depositions of the victim, Mahfuza Akhter Happy.
On April 10, the court fixed April 24 to record the depositions of the witnesses, however, none of the witnesses were present in the court on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Special Public Prosecutor of the court, Ali Asgar Swapon sought time, while Judge Tanzila Ismail of the court granted time, issued warrant and fixed May 25 to record the depositions of the witnesses. The warrant for Magistrate Snigdha Rani is bailable while the warrant for other five accused is not bailable. Shahadat Hossain and his wife Nitto were present in the courtroom on the occasion.
On September 6, last year, Khandaker Mozammel Haque sued the couple for alleged torturing of their domestic help Happy. She was found injured on a road in Sangbadik
Colony area of Pallabi in the city. Immediately after the incident, the couple went into hiding. Later, they surrendered to the court and secured bail in the case.
The tribunal framed charge against the couple in the case under Section 4(2) Kha of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on February 22.  – Court Correspondent
