Ashulia fire : Tazreen Fashions to get Tk 18cr insurance

Tazreen Fashions at Ashulia will get a fire-insurance of Tk 18 crore as a compensation for the devastating blaze that broke out on November 24 killing 112 workers of the readymade garment (RMG) industry.

The RMG had a one-year fire-insurance with Karnaphuli Insurance Company Limited in 2011.

The Tazreen Fashions is going to get the compensation as tenure of the year-long insurance would be effective till December in 2012, just before a month of the completion of the tenure.
Managing Director of Karnaphuli Insurance Company Limited Hafizullah told banglanews that Tazreen Fashions did Tk 18-crore insurance with the company seeking security of the machineries in December in 2011.
“As per the insurance condition, we will pay the amount soon,” he said.
Prior to this, RMG workers alleged that the owner intentionally set fire in the factory for getting a big amount of insurance.
Talking to this correspondent, Delwar Hosain, owner of Tazreen Fashion, termed the allegation made by the workers false and baseless.
