Asia Foundation Bd distributes 4000 books to 31 schools

Dhaka – Asia Foundation’s Books for Asia programme in Bangladesh organised a book donation event in honor of Independence Day and International Women’s Day by distributing 4000 books across a wide variety of disciplines, such as English, Business, Management, and Computer Science, to 31 Schools including 12 girls school from all over the country.
The book distribution ceremony was held at the Atrium Restaurant Dhaka on Saturday March 28 under the sponsorship of the Pubali Bank Ltd. The 4000 books are valued at more than 8 lakh Taka.The mission of this event was to celebrate Bangladesh’s Independence and also to advance girls’ education and close the gender gap in education through access to information and knowledge. Books for Asia Bangladesh aim to reach every girl’s schools and colleges in the country.
The general manager & chief technical officer of Pubali Bank, Mohammad Ali was present as chief guests for the occasion. Asia Foundation’s Bangladesh Country Representative Hasan Mazumder, deputy country representative Sara Taylor and Books for Asia coordinator Ms. Sukla Dey also attended the event along with representatives of the recipient institutions.
At the beginning of the programme, Sukla Dey welcomed all guest and participants to join on the book donation event to celebrate the day. She also introduced the invited guests and participants.
The shief guest and the special guests spoke about the challenges of girl education in the country and acknowledged Asia Foundation for its continuous support of Bangladesh’s education system through its book donation programme. They also encouraged the teachers and students to be more involved in reading and prepare themselves for better future.
Chief guest Mohammad Ali said, “Books for Asia programme is a valuable programme for Bangladesh’s Education sector supporting education by providing very valuable quality books. It is our responsibility to support in our best possible way to keep this programme running successfully”. He thanked Asia Foundation for making this support for Bangladesh Education sector.
Students from Jamgora Hope school and Ashulia Hope School performed a short cultural on this occasion.
Asia Foundation’s country representative Hasan Mazumder acknowledged Pubali Bank for their unrelenting support to Books for Asia and for making this special event possible through their financial support.
