Return Salahuddin, restore democrcy thru talks: 20-Party

The BNP-led 20-party alliance on Friday renewed its call for taking initiatives to resolve the ongoing political crisis and restore people’s democratic rights through talks.
In a statement, signed by BNP joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu, the alliance said, “We think the government will take initiatives to resolve the persisting political crisis through discussions in a bid to ensure individual’s freedom of expression, citizen’s security and establish democratic rights.”Otherwise, the 20-party threatened, to ensure the fall of the ‘autocratic’ regime together with people imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War.
It alleged that the current regime’s wild desire to hang onto power has plunged the country into a deep crisis.

The opposition alliance voiced concern that the government has created a alarming situation in the country by resorting to repressive acts, enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
The 20-party criticised the government for what it said its negative attitude to overcome the crisis and ensure a congenial atmosphere in the country.
“We all are the citizens of this independent country. It’s the responsibility of all of us to take step to resolve any uphill problem through talks. The people of the country think that the ruling party’s responsibility is greater in this regard,” the statement reads.
Referring to the disappearance of BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, the 20-party said the abduction of the BNP leader in the month of the country’s independence is tantamount to adduction of the country’s independence.
It demanded the law enforcers return Salahuddin and other missing opposition leaders and activists to their families unharmed for protecting the sanctity of the month of independence.
