Dhaka- Bangladesh got eliminated from the 18th Asian Men’s Championship of handball after suffering an 11-41 goal-defeat to India in the last group in the Korean city of Suwon on Saturday.National Handball team, in their first appearance in the heavyweight meet, suffered 3rd consecutive defeats today.India led the first half by 19-2 goals. Danha scored eight and Harjinder Singh netted six goals for the winners while Mahbub contributed 4, Shakir Shamir Emon three and Sagar, Russell, Mehedy Hasan and Sunny netted one goal each for Bangladesh.Earlier, Bangladesh made a dismal start in the Asian Handball conceding 20-46 goals defeat against hosts and Olympic champions South Korea after trailing by 8-21 goals in the first half and suffered the 2nd successive defeat losing to United Arab Emirates (UAE) by 15-36 goals after trailing by 8-17 goals in the first session.Fourteen teams, split into four groups, are taking part in the 11-day meet, a qualifying meet for the Men’s World Cup Handball to be held either in Denmark or Germany next year. Top four teams of the ensuing 18th Asian Handball meet will qualify for the World Cup Handball-2019. The participating countries are:Group A – Japan, Iran and Uzbekistan Group B – Bahrain, Oman and Australia Group C – South Korea, UAE and Bangladesh.Group D – Qatar, Saudi Arabia, China and New Zealand.UNB news agency
