‘nidentified miscreants have attacked a journalist at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet on Tuesday night. To protest the attack general students and journalists of the university formed a human chain on Wednesday.The victim was identified as the university correspondent of the daily Prothom Alo Misbah Uddin and also a 4th year, 2nd semester’s student of the Computer Science and Engineering(CSE) department.Campus sources said, bearing placards with different slogans they formed the human chain in front of library building.It may be mentioned that at 7.45 p .m of July 23, Misbah had gone out from the Sayeed Mujthoba Ali Hall of the university when six men wearing masks came on two motorcycles and attacked him with sharp knives. He was sent to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College hospital by university ambulance.Among others the programme was attended by the central member of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Uttom Kumar Das, Vice-President Anjon Roy of the SUST BCL unit, BCL leader Abu Nosor Mondol, Rashendro Das. Journalists of different newspapers and television channels formed human chain in front of Moulvibazar Press Club on Monday to protest the assault on two journalists of the Independent Television. Moulvibazar Press Club and Journalists Association arranged the programme jointly. During the human chain, president of Moulvibazar Press Club M.A Salam and Secretary District Press Club S.M Umed Ali spoke at the gathering. The speakers condemned the act of the law maker and demanded his punishment. -Our Correspondent’
