Auto driver protesting anti-social acts burnt to death in Kishoreganj

An auto-rickshaw driver was burnt to death allegedly by some spoiled youths at Amati Shibpur village in Kishoreganj Sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Shamim, 20, son of Jahangir Miah.
Family sources said some youths of the area had been using the fish enclosure of Nindu Miah, adjacent to Shamim’s house, for taking drugs and conducting antisocial activities. Shamim used to raise objections to their activities.On Wednesday, the youths were locked in an altercation with Shamim over the matter and assaulted him.
On Thursday night, the youths picked up Shamim when he was returning home with his auto-rickshaw. They took him to the fish enclosure and set him on fire pouring petrol on his body after tying up his hands and legs.
After hearing Shamim’s scream, local people rushed in and rescued him.
He was sent to a local hospital from where doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He succumbed to his injuries on way to DMCH, said officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj Model Police Station Mir Mosharraf Hossain. – UNB
