Average life expectancy of BD women now 68.8 years

The present average life expectancy of women in Bangladesh is 68.8 years – a significant rise from the past, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque told Parliament on Tuesday.He gave the information while responding to scripted question of Sadhana Haldar (Women Seat-32).
Dr Ruhal Haque said the government has concentrated on the healthcare issues of women, which increased their average life expectancy. The average life expectancy of women was 65.8 years in 2005.
He informed the House that various programmes have been taken for women under social safety net and services for women including EOC programme have been introduced at upazila hospitals.
The Health Minister said maternal mortality rate has been reduced as ANC and PNC programmes for the pregnant women have been strengthened. (Source: UNB)
