B Chowdhury urges people to make Dhaka March a success

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Wednesday called upon the countrymen irrespective of

political affiliation to participate in December 29 March for Democracy programme announced by opposition leader Khaleda Zia.
“The March for Democracy must make a successful one. The government cannot be able to resist it by creating obstruction,” he said while
addressing a rally of Bangladesh Sommilito Peshajibi Parishad at the National Press Club.
The former President said the nation would be relieved if the March for Democracy is successful, otherwise they would be hold responsible
in the history.
The rally was addressed by eminent jurist Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) ASM Abdur Rob, president of
Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Janata League Bangabir Kader Siddiqui, Bir Uttam, president of Jatiya Party (Zafar) Kazi Zafar Ahmed, chairman of
Bangladesh Kallyan Party Maj Gen (Retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Bir Protik, and Trustee of Ganoshastha Kendra Jafrullah Chowdhury.
Badruddoza Chowdhury said 154 ruling party candidates were elected uncontested by dishonouring the Jatiya Sangsad. “The nation is ashamed
with the information about corruption of ministers and ruling party lawmakers. The prime minister should also be ashamed but she has not
been ashamed on it,” he added.
The BDB chief termed “Ershad drama” a joint production of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Ershad.
Barrister Rafique-ul-Huq said what is going on in the name of election is nothing but selection.
On March for Democracy programme, he said the opposition leader should make it clear as to what the participants will do after reaching in
Dhaka.
“Begum Zia should demand for restoration of caretaker government as the government will have no legitimacy since Janaury 24. The election
should be held under that government. There should be no vacuum of the government,” he said.
ASM Abdur Rob said the country is heading towards disaster and it is difficult to understand whether there is any government in the
country.
He accused that the Election Commission has turned into a front organsiation of the government.
On Khaleda’s Dhaka March programme, he said the people would take decision in this regard upon their conscious.
“The government and EC must resign, Parliament should be dissolved and administration should be reorganized,” he said.
The JSD leader said there is a relation wheeling and dealing relationship with Ershad with taking ministership, resignation,
withdrawal of nomination papers.
Kader Siddiqui said the government would be totally illegal after January 24.
He mentioned that he does not attend any programme of Jamaat-e-Islami and he would not join any function in the presence of its leaders.
The BKSJL leader said the people would Khaleda voted to power if she can give a guarantee that there would not be a new Hawa Bhaban and
emerge any miscreant like Gias Uddin Al-Mamun and conspirators like Haris Chowdhury.
Kazi Zafar Ahmed said the bells tolling the fall of the government and it would be identified as bad government.
Jafrullah Chowdhury said we do not need a constitution that does not come to any help of the people.
Syed Muhammad Ibrahim said the country is burning because of the disputed verdict of former Chief Justice Khairul Haque and he cannot
absolve his responsibility.
The function was also addressed, among others, by secretary general of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Shawkat Mahmud, general
secretary of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Inam Ahmed Chowdhury, president of Doctors’ Association
of Bangladesh Dr Azizul Haque, secretary general AZM Zahid Hossain,  filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam, president of Engineers Association of
Bangladesh ANH Akhter Hossain, Dhaka University teacher Prof Tahmina Akhter, general secretary of the National Press Club Syed Abdal Ahmed,
Dr Abdul Aziz, Prof Syed Quamrul Ahsan and Advocate Sanaullah Miah.
