Bangabandhu T20 Cup to be deferred for one week

DHAKA —The Bangbandhu T20 Cup, a five-team tournament, is all set to be deferred for one week in a bid to organize the tournament in grand style.

The tournament is considered to be the second step for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to resume the national and International cricket in full scale after successfully hosting the recently concluded BCB President’s Cup.

The BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon earlier said that the tournament will be held on November 15 but since the board is seeking International broadcast and sponsors for five teams, they need some time to organize it properly.

The board had already got a good response from the interested parties to sponsor the five teams while the procedure of International broadcast is going on. Apart from that the BCB will also execute a best bio-secure bubble plan for a huge number of people for the tournament which eventually forced them to defer the date.

“We can’t say the tournament is deferred. In fact we have a plan to start the tournament on and after November 20,” BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said here today.

“Basically we have a plan to start it within November 21, 22 and 23. There are some procedures to manage everything properly. We have to go ahead, considering everything.”BSS
