DHAKA —The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expected to finalize the team sponsors of the Bangabandu T20 Cup within some days as they have got a good response from some reputed companies of the country to sponsor the team.
The Bangabandhu T20 Cup is a five-team tournament which is considered as the second step of the BCB to resume national and International cricket on full scale after successfully hosting the three-team BCB President’s Cup.
The BCB invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from the interested parties to sponsor the team through an advertisement and the last date of the submission of EoI was on November 1.
The board is currently discussing with the interested parties to finalize the matter. However the BCB is reluctant to disclose the name of the companies interested for the team right at this moment.
“You all know that we had given advertisements seeking the interested companies to sponsor the team. The date of submission of the Eoi is over and hopefully we can close the matter very soon,” BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said here today.
“But right at this moment we don’t want to disclose how many parties applied for being the team sponsor. However we’ll try to confirm the sponsors of all five teams after which we will declare it. We are exploring the options as to how we’ll proceed on. Hopefully very soon we’ll disclose those matters for you.”
Big companies like Beximco, Gemcon, Incepta, Bashundhara showed interest to be the sponsors of the team of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup but the CEO remained tightlipped on this.
“All I can say is that we have got a good response but we are yet to take a decision on this at this moment. As I said earlier we are exploring the options. We need to finalize International broadcast also for which the process is on. We’ll disclose all things simultaneously.”BSS
