The 95th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day was observed in Joypurhat today in a befitting manner.The district administration, Awami League (AL) and its front organisations, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, District Information Office, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh, different socio-cultural and professional organizations, schools and colleges observed the day with separate programmes.The programmes include placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu on Shaheed Dr. Abul Kashem Moidan after a children’s rally, art competition, discussion meeting, cultural function, screening of documentary films and a special doa mahfil and prayers on Shishu Academy office premises.Besides, prayers were offered at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and other places of worships. The authorities concerned supplied improved diets to inmates of orphanages and the unprivileged children.Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rahim inaugurated the day’s programme in the morning through placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Central Shaheed Minar in presence of Samsul Alam MP and senior government officials.Valiant freedom fighters, academicians, historians, researchers, teachers, officials, and heads of different educational institutions, leaders of different political parties, socio cultural and political organisations were present on the occasion. -BSS, Joypurhat
