Bangamata U-19 Women’s Int’l Gold Cup Football to begin Apr 23

Dhaka – The first-ever Bangamata U-19 Women’s International Gold Cup Football Tournament under the auspices of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will begin here on April 23.

Six U-19 national women’s football teams are expected to participate in the 11-day meet named after Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib.

Satellite TV channel Rtv won the broadcast rights of the tournament to telecast live all the matches of the tournament at home and some 88 countries across the world.

The television channel signed an agreement with tournament’s rights holders K-Sports at the BFF conference room on Tuesday afternoon in presence of BFF and SAFF President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin.

Rtv CEO Syed Ashik Rahman and K-Sports CEO Fahad MM Karim signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.

Planning Minister MA Mannan was the chief guest at the signing ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the present government wants to invest more in people-oriented fields like sports and culture to involve mass people in country’s development.

BFF President Kazi M Salahuddin said, “Bangladesh women’s football team are doing well over the last few years. I hope they’ll bring more laurel for the country from the international level and the ensuing meet will be a good platform for them.”

BFF Senior VP Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, and the Rtv and K-Sports CEOs also spoke on the occasion.

Besides, media personalities Ataur Rahman, Shanta Islam, Azizul Hakim and Chayonika Chowdhury were, among others, present.
