Sixty-five years ago, Language Movement martyrs laid their lives on 21th February in 1952 for the recognition of Bangla as a state Language. Now this day is called International Mother Language day from 1999.
Every year, on this day nation salute the heroes and this year will do the same. But there is a big question about love for Bangla. Every year textbooks are printed with a few mistakes, Bangla language particularly word problems. Not very long ago, the sign board of Bangla Academy has been corrected but still there are mistakes in many educational institutions including NAPE. Bangla is seen in a miserable condition in the signboards here and there.
Bangla is not written correctly even in the state bank (Sonali, Rupali), districts like Rajshahi and place like Mohakhali. There are a lots of mistakes seen everywhere.
Bangla words are also differently written in the textbooks from the words written in the Bangla Academy dictionary (Edited by Jamil Choudhury) for example 29, 39, 49 in grade one math book and it’s there in some other textbooks too. And even words are differently written inb different Bangla newspapers, for example, more (in bangla aro, prothom alo and kalerkantho)
There is no Bangla dictionary in the website yet so we cannot correct our spelling and even there are some anomaly between textbooks and the Bangla Academy dictionary about spelling of some Bangla words.
I would like to draw the attention to our Prime Minister and Minister for Education and concerned authorities to form a committee for finding out the mistakes (like in names of districts, places, bank signboards, educational institutions, etc.) and correct them as soon as possible and a website can be created where people can post their mistakes and assigned people can take measures and publish the corrections there.
