Bangladesh eyes to dominate against Ireland

Dhaka – After a thumping win against West Indies on Tuesday, Bangladesh eyes to display better performance against Ireland as well.

The Tigers will take on the hosts Ireland on Thursday in their second game of the ongoing tri-nation series.

The match will take the place in Dublin Bangladesh time at 3:45 pm. The match will be aired on Maasranga Television and Gazi TV. At the same time, the match will be broadcasted by Rabbithole on YouTube.

The tri-series is considered as Bangladesh’s final chance to sort out their options before the World Cup in England and Wales which is slated to be played from May 30. Bangladesh will play their first match of the World Cup on June 2 against South Africa.

Before heading to the tri-series, the Tigers lost to Ireland A by a big margin of 88 runs which created huge panic among the spectators about the ability of Mashrafe’s men in the soil of England and Wales.

However, coming into the tri-series, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, TamimIqbal, Shakib Al Hasan have wiped the fear and register a big win against West Indies who beat the hosts Ireland in the first match of the event by 196 runs.

But in the match against the Tigers, the Caribbean boys were far away from the performance that they have shown in the first game. Bangladesh did well both in bowling and batting departments.

Mashrafe-led bowling attack managed to restrict West Indies in 261 in 50 overs for nine wickets in spite of the opening stand of 89 by Shai Hope and Sunil Ambris. Hope struck a ton but Ambris was not that fearful for the Tigers.

They put up 207 for four wickets in 42.1 overs, but in the remaining overs, they just added 54 runs losing five more wickets. Bangladesh came up with more disciplined bowling at the death overs.

Mashrafe was the best bowler for the Tigers scalping three wickets for 49 runs while MustafizurRahman and Mohammad Saifuddin bagged two wickets each as well. On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan and MehidyHasanMiraz took one wicket each conceding only 33 and 38 respectively.

While replying, Tamim and Soumya added 144 on the board and made the way to win an easy walk for Shakib and Mushfiqur. Soumya scored 73 while Tamim added 80. Shakib and Mushfiqur remained unbeaten for 61 and 32 respectively. In the end, Bangladesh won the game by eight wickets with five overs to spare.

Soumya, the southpaw, said after the match: “Every win helps to be more confident. We are really confident now (to do better). It is difficult in this condition to do well for Asian teams. since we cannot change the condition, we don’t want to think much about it. We just need to play our own game and do better.”UNB
