Bangladesh U-19 team suffer 45-runs defeat to Afghanistan

Dhaka- Nayeem Hasan’s five-wicket went to vain as Bangladesh U-19 team showed again another dismal performance when they suffered a 45-run defeat to visiting Afghanistan team in the fourth youth ODI of the five-match series held today (Wednesday) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.Chasing a paltry winning target of 134 runs, the Bangladesh youth side found the chase stiff and dismissed at a paltry total of 88 in 30.3 overs.Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan (43) and Nayeem Hasan (30) were the two batsmen who able to reach the double figure as the host lost wickets in regular intervals in the face of tight bowling display by the Afghan bowlers, especially Mujeeb Ur Rahman who caused the major damage for Bangladesh taking seven wickets for 19 runs. He was well supported by Qais Ahmad Kamawal who captured two wickets giving away 22 runs.Earlier, being forced to bat first by Bangladesh, Afghanistan faced early batting collapse and they cheaply dismissed at 133 in 45 overs with Nisarullah Wahdat top scored 53 runs.Apart from Nayeem Islam’s five for 38 runs, Saif Hasan grabbed three for 7 while Hasan Mahmud took two for 25.Mujeeb Ur Rahman of the visiting side was named the player of the match for his impassive bowling performance. The last youth ODI of the series will be held on October 6 at the same venue.Earlier, Bangladesh took 1-0 lead in the series as they crushed Afghanistan by 145 runs in the first match while the second match was called off due to rain. Afghanistan bounced back to level the five-match series 1-1 as they recorded a five-wicket triumph over the host in the third match.BSS
