Bangladeshi archers shine on opening day

Dhaka – Bangladeshi celebrated archer Mohammad Ruman Shana finished top scoring 686 in the men’s recurve singles ranking round on the first day of archery discipline of the 13th South Asian Games at Pokhara Stadium in Nepal on Friday.

Another Bangladeshi archer Mohammad Tamimul Islam finished 4th scoring 660 in the men’s recurve singles ranking round.

Shana will play against Ashim Sherchan of Nepal and Tamimul will against Lam Dorji of Bhutan in their quarterfinal matches on Saturday.

In the day’s women’s recurve singles ranking round, Eti Khatun finished top scoring 532 and Mehnaz Aktar Monira finished 2nd scoring 625.

Eti will play against Rai Mitra of Nepal and Monira will against Aisha Tamang of Nepal in their quarterfinals on Saturday.

In the men’s compound singles ranking round, Sohel Rana finished 2nd scoring 690 and Ashim Kumar Das finished 3rd scoring 688.

Sohel will play against Sanatah Malla and Ashim will play against Udaya Perera of Sri Lanka in their quarterfinals on Saturday.

In the women’s compound singles ranking round, Susmita Banik finished top scoring 685 and Suma Bishwash finished 2nd scoring 682. Both Susmita and Suma reached semifinal with the ‘Byes’.

Bangladesh will play against hosts Nepal in men’s recurve team semifinals, women’s recurve team semifinals, recurve mixed team semifinals and men’s compound semifinals on Saturday while Bangladesh women’s compound team and mixed compound team reached final with the ‘Byes’.UNB
