Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF on Gotamari border

A Bangladeshi national was shot to death by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Gotamari border point in Hatibandha upazila early Friday.The deceased was identified as Amulla Chandra Barman, 38, son of Mohesh Chandra Roy, a resident of Daikhola in Hatibandha upazila.He was a cattle trader by profession.Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources said a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders were trying to intrude into the Indian territory through the border point in order to bring cattle.Sensing their attempt, a patrol team of BSF from 21 Bara Maricha camp fired gunshots at the Bangladeshi cattle traders, leaving Amulla dead on the spot.Lieutenant Colonel Bazlur Rahman Hayati, captain of 15 BGB battalion of Lalmonirhat, confirmed this. -UNB, Lalmonirhat
