Bangladesh’s proud women cricketers return home Monday 

Dhaka – Bangladesh women’s cricket team returned home on Monday, finishing their successful campaign of all-win champions in the Women’s World T20 Qualifiers in the Netherlands.The proud women cricketers arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:30 am to touch the home soil after around a 22-day break.

The Tigresses left home for Ireland on June 24 and played out a successful 2-1 bilateral T20 series against host side before leaving for the Netherlands for their world T20 qualification mission, which ended on July 14.

Victory against Ireland by 25 runs in the final of the Women’s WT20 Qualifiers was Bangladesh’s 12th win against two losses in this format, since June 3.

With their successful mission in the Netherlands, Bangladesh claimed their triple title victory all in a row, having on the back of a maiden success in the six-nation Asia Cup T20 and before a bilateral T20 series win against Ireland in June.

Bangladesh remained unstoppable throughout the eight-nation qualifiers tournament as they stormed into final with a 49-run victory against Scotland in the second semifinal confirming their entry into the 10-teams Women’s World T20 in West Indies in November 9 to 24.

They routed Papua New Guinea (PNG) by eight wickets, the Netherlands by seven wickets and United Arab Emirates (UAE) by eight wickets in their Pool ‘A’ battles.

As champions of the qualifiers tournament, Bangladesh got a spot in the Group ‘A’ to compete in the World T20 in West Indies in November 9 to 24.

They will play the first group game against defending champions and host West Indies in the opener on November 9 before play England, Sri Lanka and South Africa on November 12, 14 and 18.UNB
