Three people were killed and at least 20 injured when a bus fell into a road-side ditch at Rampotti on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway.
The bus was headed from Dhaka to Patuakhali’s Doshmina when the accident happened at Barisal’s Babuganj Upazila.The driver, helper and supervisor of the bus have all died in the accident.
Those killed were identified as Rustom Ali, 52, ‘Raju’, 22 and Yajmul Hossain, 30.
Yajmul and Raju were killed on spot, and Rustom died on way to hospital, said Metropolitan Biman Bandar Police OC Md Shahiduzzaman.
The driver lost control of the vehicle because one of its tyre burst at Rampotti, said Joynal Miah , in-charge of Meghna Paribahan’s Barisal region.
Among the injured, five have been sent to Dhaka because they were critical.
The rest are being treated at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla College and Hospital, said the OC. – bdnews24.com
