Annual sports 2016 of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh held at university stadium yesterday.Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Ali Akbar inaugurated the annual sports competition at 11am by releasing balloons as the chief guest with Students Affairs Adviser Dr Jasimuddin Khan in chair while convener of dean council Prof Dr S D Chowdhury, Proctor Dr AKM Zakir Hossain were presented as a special guest.
Physical and mental well-being earned by sports are the prerequisites of great achievements in men’s life and sports are the part of educational curriculum, said Vice-Chancellor.
The annual sports competition started with the torch run by Sujit Kumar Saha Pintu, best athletic of 1987-88 of university and Dr Md. Abul Kamal Azad, director of sports training department.
About 150 Students of six faculties participated in 23 events like race, long jump, triple jump, disc & Javelin through etc.
Concluding and prize giving ceremony held at 4 pm.
Annual sports competition of university was last held at 26 years ago in 1988.
We are very happy to participate in the competition and it is source of recreation in our monotony life, said participating students.
