BAU employee beaten up by BCL leader

A group of activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League, a student wing of Awami League, at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh beat up an employee on Tuesday evening.
The victim was Labib Hasan Mithun, a typist of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology faculty and also a shopkeeper of a photocopy shop at the university’s Kamal-Ronjit market.Mithu claimed that, around 7 pm, Protik Rout Omi with some BCL activists beat him as he refused to give him academic photocopy sheets without fees.
Omi demanded one lakh taka from the shopkeeper for continuing his business at Kamal-Ronjit market, he (Mithu) also added.
But Omi, former joint secretary of Shaeed Shamsul Haque Hall and a fourth year student of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology faculty, denying all allegations said that, I arguing with him as he (Mithu) disturbed university’s female students.
Proctor Prof Dr A K m Zakir Hossain said that, effectiveness step would be taken against the accused after proper investigation. – BAU Correspondent
