Mymensingh – The Bangladesh Agricultural University Journalists’ Association (BAUJA), the first university journalist association of Bangladesh held a two-day annual tour to Sajek valley in Rangamati hill district. I am a member of the association.
We started our trip at 6.30 pm from Mymensingh zero point for Khagrachhori hill district and reached after 9 hours travelling. Sajek is a remote hilly area that is located in Rangamati district but we had to go there through the Khagrachhari district. We hired (over the phone) for two days a local four wheel drive vehicle which is known to ‘Chander Gari’ that picked us from Khagrachhori town.
We were 11 members. First we went to dighinala army camp. After taking our snacks, we went for Hajachhora waterfall. We have had a fun with the waterfall for more than an hour. In fact we have had a great showerfrom the lovely waterfall. Then we halted at 10 baghaihat army and police camps where we had to take the permission to go Sajek Valley. The whole road journey was thrilling and we enjoyed the beauty of clouds, hilly roads and the picturesque view of the hills. It took around 2.5 hours to reach at the Sajek valley.
We took a cottage of two rooms which was luxurious with specious neat and clean rooms having attached washrooms and good sanitary facilities. Also the cottage house had an attached terrace at the eastern side which is a perfect place for watching the sunset and having a great time passing.
We had a dinner with the Bar-B-Q and after the dinner we had a gossip at the terrace. Two from our association had an amazingly sweet voices and have entertained us most of the times with their magical songs.
After taking breakfast, we headed for the Kanglak Para which is around 50 minutes of walk from the Army camp. Through the typical hilly path we reached the Kanglak Para which is about 2250 feet from the sea level and it is the highest hill of Rangamati.
We were busy taking pictures and were waiting for the sun to come out and cut through the clouds. The scene was majestic where you have the sun light coming behind the hills while clouds come and cover the whole valley.
After returning from the Kanglak Para we packed our bags and said goodbye to Sajek and went for alutila Cave, also called “Mysterious Tunnel” and Richang Fall.
The alutila Cave is built inside 1000 meter high hill and surrounded by deep green forest. This is a 100 meter long natural subway-like dark cave where cold water is flowing at the bottom. The cold Cave is so dark that only high powered torch or locally sold flambeau can help one to walk around inside the cave.
Richang Fall is another attraction of Alutila Hill. We enjoyed its crystal clear water and its water fall added to our contentment.
Before coming back to the university campus, we treaded through Khagrachhori town. These are places for courageous and adventure lovers to quench their thirsts.
