BB Governor’s going not enough, Govt cann’t avoid liability: Bnp

The BNP on Tuesday said the resignation of Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman proved that high level people in the government were involved in cyber heist of Bangladesh Bank’s reserve money from US Federal Bank in New York.
“The resignation of governor proved against the incident of money swindling. The head of government and the finance minister cannot avoid the responsibility,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

Addressing a press conference at BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan in the city, he said Aitur Rahman has been forced to tender his resignation following massive criticism over the incident and stansign many dramas.
“The BNP demands the resignation of the government over the incident. The government is staging drama and mockery with the people,” he said.
The BNP leader claimed that the amount of stolen money was reportedly more than the figure of Tk 800 crore, which has been reported so far. “It is reportedly $800 crore which is equibavent to Bangladesh 6500 crore taka,” he said.
Rizvi said the government has destroyed the entire financial sector though plundering of crores of taka from banks and financial insitutitons.
He expressed his concerned over missing of Begumganj thana Juba Dal leader Sanowar Hossain Sajib after he arrived at BNP central office on March 12.
