BCB South Zone took solo lead in the first class Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) beating Islami Bank East Zone by 10 wickets on Monday.
In the day’s other match, Walton Central Zone managed a six-run victory over BCB North Zone at Sylhet International Stadium.
After the day’s second round matches, South Zone topped the list securing 16.39 points, followed by East Zone with 13.06, Central Zone with 9.5 points and BCB North Zone with 5 points.
South Zone secured the thumping victory on the fourth and last day of the second round match at the academy ground of Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.
Replying to South Zone’s first innings total of 482 runs, East Zone collapsed for 306 runs. They resumed the second innings with overnight score 323 for 5 and were all out for 360 runs in 86.2 overs.
National team’s Afif Hossain, who was batting on 93, hit a century (115 off 175 balls) featuring 14 fours and one six. Another night watch batsman Zakir Hasan (28) made 54-ball 31 runs, featuring three fours.
Saqlain Sajib was other batsman scoring the double figure (11) runs on the day.
Mahedi Hasan grabbed four wickets for 88 runs and was adjudged man of the match while Abdur Razzak took three wickets for 137 runs.
Chasing 185, South Zone scored 187 runs for no loss in 37.5 overs.
National opener Anamul Haque hammered a century (109 runs off 111 balls) featuring 12 four and four sixes while another opener Shahriar Nafees remained unbeaten on 68 off 120 balls hitting seven fours and two sixes.

In the day’s other match, Walton Central Zone managed a six-run victory over BCB North Zone on the fourth and final day of the second round of BCL.
Chasing 330, North Zone opened their second innings with their first innings total 166 but were all out for 323 to suffer a narrow defeat.
Tanbir Haider, who was batting on 54, scored a century (177 off 307 balls) hitting 20 fours and a six.
Shahidul Islam grabbed three wickets for 78 runs.
Central Zone’s Shuvagato Hom was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant knock of 122.
