BCB XI eliminated from Mini Ranji Trophy

Dhaka – Touring Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Eleven were eliminated from Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah Memorial Cricket Tournament of Karnataka losing to Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangha (SCS) by seven wickets in the four-day semifinal that concluded on the 4th and final day at Alur-1 (Platinum Oval) ground in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangha will play the final against Andhra Cricket Association beginning on Saturday (August 3) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

In the semifinal, the BCB XI needed just a draw to qualify for the final as they were enjoying advantage by virtue of first innings lead, but finally missed the chance conceding a huge defeat.

Chasing a mediocre target of 228 runs in the 2nd innings on the last day on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangha easily reached their ultimate goal scoring 231 runs for the loss of only three wickets in 53.5 overs, featuring two partnerships in the opening and 4th wicket stands.

Rishabh Tiwari pairing with Jivanjot Singh scored 96 runs in the opening stand while two down Amandeep Khare partnering with number five batsman Shashank guided the team towards the victory contributing an unbeaten 86 runs in the 4th wicket stand.

Number four Amandeep Khare hammered an unconquered 86 runs off 92 balls featuring eight fours and two sixes, opener Jivanjot Singh scored 74-ball 50 runs hitting five fours, another opener Rishabh Tiwari made a patient 80-ball 39 runs with four boundaries while number five Shashank contributed not out 25 runs off 47 balls with four fours.

Moniul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Ebadot Hossain grabbed one wicket each conceding 4, 38 and 51 runs respectively.

Earlier, Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangha managed only 257 runs in the first innings despite a century by Rishabh Tiwari and half century by Shashank, replying to BCB Eleven’s first innings total of 334 runs, but smartly returned to the match dismissing BCB Eleven cheaply for 150 runs in the 2nd innings.UNB
