BCB XI lead by 189 runs against Vidarbha CA on 3rd day

Dhaka – Touring BCB XI have been leading by 189 runs with nine wickets in hand against Vidarbha Cricket Association on the 3rd day of ongoing Dr (Capt) K Thimmappaiah Memorial Cricket Tournament in India (Mini Ranji Trophy) on Friday.

Replying to BCB XI’s first innings massive total of 500 runs, Vidarbha CA resumed the first innings on Friday morning with their overnight total of 114 runs for one wicket in 30 overs and were all out by 353 runs in 94.4 overs.

Taijul Islam claimed 8 for 89 for BCB XI while Taskin Ahmed and Ariful Haque picked up one wicket each. For Vidarbha CA Atharva Deshpande scored 91 and Akshay Kolhar scored 62 runs.

With 147-run lead, BCB XI started their 2nd innings and scored 42 for 1 in 19 overs to extend their lead to 189 runs when the bails were drawn for the 3rd day (Friday).

Opener Saif Hasan and Captain Mominul Haque were unbeaten at 15 and 1 runs respectively while another opener Jahurul Islam scored 25 off 58 before being dismissed by Saurabh Dubey.

BCB XI will play their 2nd match against Dr DY Patil Cricket Academy which will begin on July 16 while the 3rd and last match against KSCA Secretary XI will start from July 22 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Earlier, a 15-member BCB XI reached Bengaluru earlier on Sunday to play in the four-day cricket affairs in India. BCB XI have been placed in Group B along with Vidarbha Cricket Association, Dr Dy Patil Cricket Academy and KSCA Secretary XI.

A total of 16 cricket teams – split into four groups – were taking part in the tournament.

Four group champions will enter the semifinals scheduled to start on July 28 at two separate venues – Alur -1 (Platinum Oval) and Alur-2 (Golden Oval) – while the final match will start from August 3 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
