Dhaka- Bangladesh Women’s team completed their first-ever five-a-side AFC Women’s Futsal Championship campaign in a frustrating note after suffering a 1-6 goal defeat against Chinese Taipei in their 3rd and last Group B match at Bangkok Avenue in Thailand on Sunday.Earlier, Bangladesh women got off to a frustrating start in the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship losing to Malaysia by 1-7 goal in the first international appearance on Wednesday and conceded another huge 0-7 goal defeat against stronger and four-time South East Asian Games runners-up Vietnam in their 2nd match on Friday.
In the day’s match, captain Sabina Khatun, who has experience of playing the futsal in the Maldives domestic circuit in 2016, scored the consolation goal for Bangladesh in the 23rd minute. Later, Sabina was adjudged one of the best three players of the tournament.
YF Lin and Lin Hui scored two goals each while YC Tang and T Sai netted one each for the Chinese Taipei.
After the match, Bangladesh Head Coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “Chinese Taipeiare a very experienced and good team. They’re very fast and physically strong. Bangladeshgirls also played attacking match today, especially Sabina, Masura, Rupna Chakma, Maria and Monica.”
“It was a very nice fighting encounter where our girls Sabina, Maria, Sopnamissed many opportunities in both halves. Our girls are playing better matches day by day and they learned many things from this tournament,” he added.
Fifteen Asian teams, split into four groups, are competing in the five-a-side women’s football tournament with Bangladesh putting in Group B with Malaysia, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei. The group champions and runners-up team will play in the quarterfinals.UNB
