BD President offers Eid prayers at National Eidgah

Dhaka – President Abdul Hamid offered his Eid-ul-Fitr prayer along with hundreds of people from different strata of the society at National Eidgah in the city on Saturday morning.The country’s main Eid congregation was held at the National Eidgah Maidan around 8:30 am under the auspices of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

Mayor of DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon and senior officials of the city corporation received the president and his entourage at the National Eidgah.

Cabinet members, chief justice, ministers, state ministers, advisers to the Prime Minister, judges of the Supreme Court, members of parliament, senior political leaders, diplomats of different Muslim countries and high civil and military officials also offered prayers.

Senior Pesh Imam Hafez Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque conducted the main Eid jamaat held on the premises of the High Court attended by hundreds of people from all walks of life in a festive mood.

Mirpur Jamye Arabiya Muhtamim Maulana Syed Wahiduzzaman was present in the congregation place as an alternative Imam.

A special munajat was offered seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country, and the welfare of its people and greater unity of the Muslim Ummah.

President Abdul Hamid exchanged Eid greetings with the devotees after the prayers in a traditional manner.

Special arrangements for women and foreign diplomats to offer their Eid prayers were also made at the National Eidgah.

The DSCC arranged drinking water, ceiling fan, and mobile toilets for the devotees at the venue.

Law enforcement agencies, including the President’s Guard Regiment, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and the elite force Rapid Action Battalion, provided a tight security in and around the Eidgah.UNB
