BD, US sign counternarcotics MoC

Dhaka and Washington on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) for mutual cooperation in the sphere of drug control between the US Drug Enforcement Administration and Bangladesh’s Home Ministry. This MoC is intended to increase cooperation aimed at combating organised criminal groups with national, regional, and international connections; illicit drug and precursor chemical trafficking and the prevention of drug smuggling across international borders, said a US Embassy media release.   Regional Attaché Michael Brown representing the Drug Enforcement Administration and Additional Secretary (Political) Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed signed the MoC on behalf of their respective sides.   US Ambassador in Dhaka Dan Mozena and Senior Secretary CQK Mustaq Ahmed presided over the signing ceremony. – UNB
