BD youth del begins weeklong India visit Thursday

Dhaka, Mar 27 (UNB)— A 100-member Bangladesh youth delegation will embark on a seven-day visit to neighbouring India from Thursday.

They will visit cultural and historical sites, and business centres. They will also interact with Indian youths at educational, business, IT and technological institutions.

The Indian High Commission organised a flag-off ceremony in Dhaka for the delegation on Wednesday.

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury attended the event as the chief guest. High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das addressed the delegation.

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, captain of Bangladesh’s ODI team and Member of Parliament, attended the event as the special invitee.

This year marks the seventh year of the Bangladesh Youth Delegation’s visit to India, according to the High Commission. The first such visit took place in 2012.

Members of the 2019 delegation include 40 women and 60 men, drawn from different regions of the country with diverse backgrounds. They comprise of doctors, artists, sportspersons, journalists, engineers, models, radio jockeys, humanities and science students, social workers, among others.

The delegation will return home on April 3.
