Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) — the global network of non-resident Bangladeshis and their international friends dedicated to the protection of environment — congratulates Prof. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, on his appointment as a National Professor of Bangladesh. Prof. Chowdhury, a reputed former professor of civil engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has been playing very important roles in the nation’s life even after his retirement from BUET. Among these is his role in Bangladesh’s environmental movement. He is one of the founders of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) and served as its President for a long time. Currently, he is an Adviser of BAPA.
Prof. Chowdhury has been a friend of BEN from the very beginning. He appreciated the role of NRBs in Bangladesh environment movement early on. He continues to be a champion of RB-NRB cooperation in the protection of Bangladesh environment and in other areas of nation building.
