Dhaka – Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) planned to bring one or two former world cup stars for the upcoming Bangabandhu Gold Cup to create mass hype for the meet.
The meet is scheduled to be held from January 15 to 25 while the draw will take place on January 4 here.
BFF already shortlisted some of those world cup stars. They are: Brazilian versatile star Ronaldinho, Italian defender Paolo Maldini, Netherlands forward Ruud Gullit and forward Marco Basten and Ivory Coast forward Didier Drogba.
Six Asian countries — Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan and hosts Bangladesh — will take part in the sixth version of the meet.
Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to start in November 2019, but it deferred till January next year as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the BFF decided to start ‘Mujib Borsho’ programme through an international tournament.UNB
