BGB clinch Independence Cup Kabaddi title

Dhaka – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) clinched the Bashundhara Group Independence Cup Kabaddi title beating Bangladesh Navy by 29-27 points in a crucial final at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.They led the first half by 17-12 points.Tipu Sultan of BGB was adjudged the man of the final and man of the tournament.Champions BGB received a prize money of Tk two lakh while runners-up Bangladesh got Tk one lakh.State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder witnessed the day’s final as chief guest and later he distributed the prizes.Acting secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports M Saidul Islam, Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh John Frisell, North Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Ri Song Hyon, adviser of the Bashundhara Group Major General M Mahbub Haider Khan were present at the function, chaired by Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation President and IGP AKM Shahidul Islam.A total of 10 teams, split into two groups, took part in the five-day meet.UNB news agency
