Bill placed in Parliament to make permission compulsory for government officials to marry foreigners

Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam introduced the ‘Public Servants (Marriage with Foreign Nationals) Bill, 2015’ on Wednesday.

The Bill was forwarded to the standing committee on the Ministry of Public Administration for submitting a report after scrutiny within 60 days.

According to the Bill, no public servants will be able to marry or give assurance of marrying any foreign national without taking permission from the president.

The bill, framed after consulting all related parties, also aims at cancelling the ordinance on the matter and enactment of a law in Bangla.

The Public Servants (Marriage with Foreign Nationals) Ordinance, 1976, was issued on July 10 that year.
