Biswa Ijtema Second phase ends tomorrow

The “Akheri Munajat” of the second phase of 51st Biswa Ijtema on the banks of river Turag at Tongi will be offered tomorrow, ending the three-day annual Muslim congregation.Thousands of Muslims from home and abroad are participating in the second largest congregation of the Muslims after Hajj.Our Gazipur correspondent reports, some three million people from all walks of life are expected to join the Akheri Munajat tomorrow morning.The second phase of the Ijtema began on January 15 after a four-day gap of the first phase Ijtema held earlier from January 15 to 17 at the same venue.Loudspeakers have been set up at many places in and outside the ijtema ground to facilitate people to listen the munajat.Meanwhile, the “ambayan” (general sermon) still continues today after Fazr prayers.The second day of the Ijtema passed off through discussions on various issues, including teachings of Islam and supremacy of Allah.Eminent Islamic scholars in their sermons stressed on following the guidance of the holy Quran and Sunnah. The sermons were translated into different languages.

Foolproof security measures have been taken to ensure peaceful conclusion of the Ijtema.Measures have been taken to ensure supply of electricity and water in and around the ijtema venue.Proper sanitation and health services for the devotees have also been ensured.Special measures have been taken for transportation of the devotees.Doctors are providing services round the clock at free medical camps, set up for extending medical support to the participants, if required.”Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is enquiring the overall situation of the Ijtema ground,” local lawmaker ALhajj Jahid Ahsan Rasel told BSS.”The authority concerned has taken all-out preparation to ensure the safe return of the Ijtema devotees” he added.Biswa Ijtema is being held on the riverbanks of Turag at Tongi since 1967. The Ijtema is being held in two phases since 2011 to ease accommodation and transportation.
