The BNP is running after ‘a strange creature called caretaker government’, Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said.
“They have to come around to other system, understanding the fact that it won’t work,” he said at a function at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium in Sylhet City on Wednesday noon.
“There is no need for unelected forces or individuals (to be in power). When we bring unelected individuals to power, we only make them talkshow heroes, nothing else,” he observed.The BNP did not contest the general election and was now paying for that mistake, Muhith claimed.
The organisational strength and record of their street agitation do not indicate that they will succeed in their movement to make the government hold a midterm election, he said.
The Awami League candidates had failed in the Upazila elections due to intra-party conflicts, he remarked.
