BNP-supported candidate Nur Mohammad Mondal was elected chairman of Pirganj upazila in the upazila parishad polls on Monday.
Nur Mohammad bagged 74,992 votes while Awami League blessed candidate Chhayadat Hossain Bakul polled 70,877 votes and AL rebel Habib Mukit
secured 13,872 votes.The polls results were announced around 11:45 pm.Earlier, voting the in the upazila ended peacefully at 4 pm amid tight security.
There were 262,735 registered voters in 15 unions of the upazila. -UNB, Rangpur
